Happy New Year!

2011 was such a great year for me, and I look forward to 2012!
My first order of business in 2012 was to start booking more sessions. So far, so good!
I got to meet with this young lady in the studio and she was such a great kid to work with! Very expressive!

So, I ended up taking about a month off from photography just to regroup and kind of lay down a plan for 2012. So it looks like more blogging, more facebook updates and every other month or so we will do a special. Please "Like" my Facebook page

This month I said no tax on any purchase. That means you don't pay the sales tax, but *I* do (don't worry BOE, you will still get money!) So book your session before January 31st and let me pay your sales tax!

Its been cold out here lately! Thankfully all of my sessions have been indoors! Its not even supposed to get above 55 degrees today!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I am so thankful for my husband, my children, my family, my friends and of course my wonderful clients. Enjoy the times with the people you love most and just forget all the rest!
I love the fall color in the mountains. Every year we go to my in-laws house since they moved (except that one year I worked and then I made the rule to never do that again!) and every year I want to stop and just take a picture of the road leading to their house.
THis year Tim and I made the trek alone because our kids had already been there since Tuesday. So I made him stop so I could get out and shoot. He is such a good man!

I'm loving all those oranges and yellows!

Today is Black Friday... I stayed home because there was nothing out there worth getting into a fight over, lol. Plus I have two sessions today that I would prefer to be awake for!

Another session finished! Moving right along!

We did have some drama with Ebay and USPS the past two days, so I haven't had a lot of time to work on things. But I finished processing another session today and I am well on my way to getting caught up. Just in time for my holiday sessions that start next week!

As I come slowly out of my mountain of work, I have found that we need a new office system. I already implemented some new software that allows me to work when I'm not at home, so once I get the hang of it, I am sure things will get better. Someday...lol.

But today I am posting on the blog the family of my recent senior. Awesome parents, with three boys. I can only imagine the fun that goes on in that house.

Its been a busy couple of weeks - lots of shooting, appointments, orders, etc. I've fallen behind but all this week I can catch up before the next wave hits on Friday.

Today's feature is a local senior. He was so easy to work with and I can't wait to do his future sessions. The first image shown is one of my favorites... when you are graduating high school it feels as though you have the world at your feet and you get to take the next step for your future.

Props go out to his mother, who suggested the location. I had never shot there before, but its definitely on my favorites list :)

Unexpected visitor!

Yesterday I had a senior session out in Apple Valley. Halfway through the shoot, I was talking to the owner of the property and he pointed out a bobcat behind me. He said that he had seen another a few days earlier but with cubs.
I went down the steps and crept pretty close, but once he noticed me, he was startled and started to run. He did take one last look at me though, and that is the shot above. So cool to see nature up close!

I'm starting to get back into the swing of things and it feels good to be shooting again consistently.
I'm going to be at a softball tournament this weekend, my husband is playing in a charity tournament for CHP officer Justin McGrory who died in the line of duty. So Saturday is pretty booked - kids games in the morning, and tournament up in Barstow. Come support if you can!

These guys needed something quick for a promo flyer, so I had them come in to get some fast shots done for their flyers. I already knew all of them except the guitar player so it was an easy comfortable and relaxed session.

What a way to kick off the 2012 seniors! I had photographed this guy a few years ago for family photos, and I do his little sister's portraits a lot! So now its time for him to graduate... kids grow so fast.
He was very particular about the poses he wanted to do, and I ended up catching those smiles in between fake smiles :)

oh my goodness! I really should have had this post up last week, but things were crazy here. A short notice birthday party for my son, a pool turning green, and just a whole lot of things. Anyhow, today's feature is a very beautiful girl. I usually dont work Sundays but it ended up working out for both of our schedules and I am so glad it did!

Pet Sitting....

This is Danmar! His owner is off playing softball in a tournament and needed someone to care for him.
I picked him up around midnight and we cruised over to my house. Such a party animal!
Let me just say... he's pretty easy going. He's very well behaved, not a picky eater...we are getting along just fine. He doesn't wake me up early in the morning and I don't clean up his bathroom messes.
Except when he sees my camera - then we have issues. I can tell he doesn't like his picture taken and he gives me the stink eye.
Its okay Danmar, only a few more days and you can go home.

NO, I haven't lost my mind...but sometimes I just get a little silly. Today has just been one of those days...and the fish sits in his bowl without a care in the world. And it made me put some things in perspective. Thanks Danmar - you are the best!

Summer Storm....

I love the rain from a summer storm. I can do without the thunder, though!

Today I was out at the park practicing with my teammates. We could hear the thunder in the distance...a few lightning strikes far away. Then it started to get closer. And the rain began to fall lightly. I was walking in from the outfield to pick up some balls and I saw a huge strike of lightning come down! And seconds later the CRACK AND ROAR of the thunder. Everyone else started walking in and then the rain began to come down in buckets. We were all scrambling to protect gloves, shoes, etc. and took refuge under the edge of the bathrooms. The park workers had their shed open and offered us shelter. How nice!

Later on in the day, it was safe to go out and I snapped this picture. I love how the clouds looked and the colors in the sky. Home is so beautiful!

August is only two days away... my husband kicks it off with his birthday, and for the next five months we have birthday season. Can't wait!

Summer Pregnancy...

I'll never forget being pregnant in the summer. It was while we were waiting for our house to be built. Every weekend we would come up and I would swear that I would never ever be pregnant in the desert heart again.
Well, I haven't... and I am always sympathetic when I see pregnant women during the desert heat season. Although this year its been pretty mild, I hope their child is thankful for Mom's sacrifice!
These portraits were taken in the Victorville Studio, so basically an indoor photo session :)
This maternity client absolutely glowed! Pregnancy looks good on her for sure!

It was really difficult to decide which ones to put on the blog! Such a beautiful lady carrying a precious gift. I can't wait for the newborn session :)

One more week of July! The weather gives little hints that its going to warm up, and then it doesn't last! I would still like to do a special something with the business before I go on vacation... lots of ideas pouring in but I have to find one that is affordable and feasible!

Summer is almost over???

This has definitely been a summer to remember! There really hasn't been scorching hot temps and I have hardly been home to use my air conditioning (although its set on auto so I have come home late at night to find it on and no one home!)

My daughter's team did FABULOUS in all-stars! They were in the championship game for the State Championship and they lost :( But we are sooo proud of her!

All-Stars took a lot of shooting time away, but a couple of weeks ago I was able to do a session with this family. They are great people and we had fun during this session!

Every once in a while I get small headshot requests. I feel sorry for this poor lady - she had to do a race in a full body suit! I had the air on, and I was feeling suffocated. But she looked great - and her pics came out great too!

I'm a little sad... this picture is not as crisp on the web as I would like. But you get the idea!

One of the reasons I am so busy is softball. So I am proud that my younger daughter made the team her first year of being eligible! Our league isn't very good on doing all-star pictures, so of course I had to snap my own for memories :)

Well, this session was on a beautiful yet very windy day. The wind just never stops here!
These siblings were a lot of fun, and my client even brought along some bubbles to play with!

Today is Friday (TGIF!) we have a break from softball all stars so we are headed to a few birthday parties this weekend and then we play our games on Sunday. The adult rec season is coming to a close!
We also bought a new pool (its filling up as I type this) so I am looking forward to lots of BBQs and swimming this summer!

I know I'm skipping around, but I just had to share. On Sunday, my daughter's team won the District 49 Little League Softball Championship (say that three times fast)
We are so proud of the girls and how hard they have worked!

CONGRATULATIONS VICTORVILLE AMERICAN!!!

They now move onto the next tournament July 7th that is being held here in Victorville.

I love softball! I played growing up and in high school. Now I am content to play slow-pitch with the local city teams and do a lot of coaching.

These girls are from a neighboring league - they are super sweet and I loved photographing them!

Its been over a month since my last post! Life has been really busy and for a while there I was wondering if we should just quit paying our mortgage and live out of the cars! But then I wouldn't have my studio, and that would kind of stink. And then I would need a place for all my stuff too. I guess I pay the mortgage so all our stuff has a place to hang out!

Anyway - its time to play catch up. As I post each session, I will give an update on what was going on at the time.

First up! 2011 Senior - now a graduate! Such an awesome girl!

We had to cancel one of her outdoor sessions because of the wind. Then everytime I would think about calling her to if she wanted to head out - the wind was there again. Finally it got to the point where she was getting ready to graduate, so it was now or never!

Again, such a lovely lady and some college is getting a GREAT student in the fall!

Is spring here yet? I don't know...maybe? I sure hope so! Friday night my teammates and I became the Champions of the Apple Valley Spring Co-ed League. We beat a really good team, and I am soooo proud of us! Don't worry - we will get shirts to celebrate! Out of 5 seasons in Apple Valley, we have take the championship is 3 of them. We have played in the championship game 4 times out of 5. Pretty darn great!

Anyhow, so Friday league is over so it frees me up a little bit to start my weekends.

Today's feature is two families with 4 kids in little league. 4 awesome kids, I might add!

Its a pleasure and an honor to photograph the kids, hopefully we can get them all in for family sessions too!

She is a 2011 senior, and has such a warm smile! Her teeth look like they could do some great advertising for a dentist!

First off, let me say happy birthday to the sweetest ten year old ever! My baby girl Brianna is finally in the double digits! For all that know and love her, you can thank me for saving/sparing her life, lol!
I am definitely one proud mama, and when she plays today I am hoping she brings some success to her team and they win!

This weekend we went 1-2 in the wins. Courtney's White Sox had a mercy of 23-2. Brianna's Dodgers lost a tough game by 1 run, and Harrison's Orioles lost by about 3 I think. Saturday was a gorgeous day to get some softball pictures....

The Dodger girls are getting so close to another win!

Yesterday I was at the district again doing headshots. Such nice people over there...

That one is probably my favorite :) I liked so many of them it was hard to choose which ones to show!
This weekend is going to be busy! Baseball/softball all day Saturday, senior session in the evening, a new senior coming in on Sunday morning, and 4 ball players coming in Sunday afternoon! I am so blessed!

When my client called and told me she was pregnant, I was expecting her to book for maternity pictures. But then she said she was going to have this baby the following Monday, and I was so happy for them!
Nice people making beautiful children = my favorite kind of sessions!!

Of all days, this little guy did not want to sleep! I tried all my tricks but once he was awake, he wanted to just stare :) oh, and poop - he did that the entire session and we were afraid to take his diaper off!

seriously, I coach some of the cutest girls here in the HD!

This young lady was on my fall ball team. One of the most energetic kids that I know- she has a hard time standing still. But luckily she stood still for a little while and let me take her pictures!

I will be honest- I have no clue if she is number 12 or not. It sounded good, so we will roll with it until her parents tell me otherwise. I will fix it before prints get ordered!!!

This week I was talking to my son's baseball coach about my son's lack of focus but the fact that he had natural talent. One of the things that caught my attention was when he said my son "hadn't hit his stride" and it got me thinking...my younger daughter did in fact hit her stride when she was about 8 and really started rapid improvement since then...
So she is fun to do pictures with, she has her own set to order from, but these are my favorites:

I still hold out hope that my son starts to enjoy baseball a little more and keep thinking that boys really do mature slower than girls!
Now I have one child's pictures out of the way, two more to do!

Weekend LL updates...

This weekend the Orioles and Dodgers were both handed their first loss. Booo... but they are tough teams and I am sure they will rebound!

#11 started the game pitching and did very well. When she was on and throwing strikes, no one could hit off her.

She reached base twice on walks and she tried to make her way around...

#8 struck out his first at bat but walked the second. Once on the basepath, there was no stopping him!

Softball Player!

Yesterday one of my favorite players came in for a specialty session...her family dared to ask the question..."Is it easier to teach her to slide, or take her picture?"
Well, both are equally difficult, but I am proud to say that I was able to accomplish both. She CAN slide, and I did get some really good shots of her!

Girls Softball

What a way to start off the season. The Junior White Sox girls are 2-0! Yesterday we were in Silver Lakes for my oldest daughter's game. Silver Lakes is a beautiful community, I have shot there many times, mostly by the lake and the park.
My daughter is currently the catcher for her team, and I think she is a pretty darn good one for just starting last season!

I feel very sorry for all the pitchers out there that have to face my daughters. Both have a habit of hitting right back at the pitcher. Thankfully on this one, Courtney hit it into the ground and just startled the player enough to cause a throwing error that allowed her to reach 1st base.

And for those that noticed...yes - I see that split in her glove. Her dad will take care of it ASAP!

We are supposed to have great weather leading into April - I am so excited and can't wait! I have a session on Friday with a gorgeous little girl! I also have to get my rear in gear and get my kids' sports pictures done!

Opening Day 2011

Opening day went off without a hitch! We made it to the park on time, the kids paraded with their teams and then my son played the opening game and the team WON!!!
I have three different teams to cheer for : White Sox, Dodgers, and Orioles...I have something to wear for the White Sox and Dodgers, but not the Orioles - yikes!

Oh well, at least I have some pictures from the game...

It was very cold with blustery wind. I could barely hold my camera still because my hands were frozen and shaking. Time to get a monopod!!!

Saturday I will get to take some pictures of my oldest at her game - I am so excited because her games are very action packed!

Soooo... I am officially sick. I fought it off till late Sunday and I woke up on Monday a mess. I don't have it nearly as badly as my children do, but enough to make me miserable. So don't touch me, or let me breathe on you. All sessions for the week are canceled because they involved little ones, so I had to reschedule them. This is not a virus I want to share!

Charity Softball Tournament!

This past Saturday we had a full day of softball. It was a charity tournament, and 12 mens teams joined in the fun. Our team took 2 out of 3 games, and they played great! I think all the men had a good time and they deserve a huge pat on the back.
Our thoughts go out to the family of this little boy and to all families that have children fighting cancer.

I'm always glad to have the little ones in the studio. The last time I photographed this wee one, he was about 3 months old and he gave me about 15 minutes of his time.
We are getting better, this time I was able to snag 30 minutes and then he was done. I did get some really cute captures though!

Today I traveled to the east end of Victorville to do some photography work at the Sterling Inn. These are for their website to promote their assisted living services for senior citzens. Beautiful facility, with a very friendly staff.

Today is such a gorgeous day! I wish we could have gone out to the park with our friends and spent the day. My kids are sick and the only way I know that they are REALLY sick is because no one wanted to get dressed and go play. They must truly be sick. :-(
Thankfully I am not sick, so I can still have my portrait session with a 6 month old baby boy tomorrow. I am so excited!
Then Saturday we will be out at the park for the charity tournament. Very cool to see all these teams playing and helping a great cause.

By the time we finished the indoor portraits, the wind was kicking up so we couldn't go outside. But we definitely have plans to do something outdoors in the spring.

I just wanted to blog about how cold it is outside. We are gearing up for a “big storm” and whether it materializes remains to be seen :)
I will say – it has gone from absolutely gorgeous to frigid. Of course this was the week that the kids all started Little League practice, so I guess it is fitting. All of my kids have good teams, so I foresee a LOT of winning going on. Of course there will be pictures to document it! I also plan on offering something special to the two younger teams as a special momento for their season :) I already ordered bows for my daughter’s hair from from my favorite boutique.

Other than that, I Am looking forward to meeting with a few Class of 2011 seniors as well as a potential wedding client this weekend. I always enjoy meeting new clients and showing what my studio can do for them.

The weather was perfect, and even though the lighting was a bit harsh for my liking, we did what we could...

February is here already! And the month is halfway through and I am playing catch-up.

Today is Valentines’ Day, and it was my oldest daughter’s first day at the local community college to take classes, AND it was my son’s first baseball practice. I feel really good about his coach and his team this year. And I can’t wait to get pictures of the action!

But today I want to wish a special someone Happy Birthday. Actually her birthday was yesterday, and we did this session weeks ago….but I’m catching up, remember?

This is my oldest daughter. She will be FIFTEEN in 2 weeks! Ack I am feeling my age...She is my 1996 Valentines' Day gift.
She puts me through the ringer, so its no surprise that when two really stubborn people get together, they create a being that is so powerful that it makes THEM want to throw in the towel.
Much to her dismay, we haven't yet....did I mention we are stubborn?

I would tell her she is beautiful, but she already knows. She is growing into one heck of a lady!

I have not been feeling well for the past few days, but today was better so I set up and brought my favorite little model in for some shots.
She is definitely growing quickly and some of the post processing I did just amplified it!

This is pretty much all the energy I have to process at this moment. The kids want to bake, and of course they always come first!

A More Willing Model....

Whew! After yesterday's practice session, I was scared to ask for models to work out some lighting kinks!

Thankfully I have the camera lover. The one who will pose whenever I want, however I want and then throw in a little bit of her own in there. She loves to drag out the prop box and put stuff on.

Today she borrowed one of her older sister's hats and put some lip gloss on to make her lips "shiny pretty"

Ah.... two complete opposites of the spectrum. Tomorrow I shall try again with the oldest. Maybe I can round out the set and get a wall portrait printed.

Tough Model

I'm kidding... of course I will be, he's my son!

He was such a tough model to shoot. I gave him some basic directions and you would think I was torturing him...

CHILL OUT! Just a few more!

Apparently if we aren't doing a photo shoot that showcases his missing tooth, then he doesn't want any part of it.

I have to mention that I did pull him away from building some contraption out of cardboard, tape and string... and he was ticked at me. He hasn't unraveled his latest invention yet, or else I would tell you all.

Gosh, he looks so much like his dad....same scowl and everything :)

A Lost Tooth!

My son lost his second tooth today. He is sooo cute, they way he already has it wrapped up in a plastic baggie for the tooth fairy to retrieve tonight. Ahem...the "TOOTH FAIRY" seems to be out of cash at the moment, but I know her personally and she is incredibly intelligent and she will think of something.
I took a picture of him to post, but our internet connection seems to be down for the moment, hence I am posting this from my husbands phone. Bummer.
Today was so cold, but we managed to go out and meet a friend for a playmate and then went to the community center to pay for our softball teams. My husband can't wait!
I hope all the locals enjoyed our snow in some way or another, and it didn't inconvenience you too much.

Only the second day of 2011 and we have snow!
Right now its nothing that is sticking, but daylight is running out so I snapped a few pictures. We went out and had softball practice this morning and everything looked pretty nice outside, just really cold.

All the kids on the street are thrilled! And Facebook is full of updates from people who are getting snow!
I know I am probably in the minority here, but I hope when I wake up there isn't any snow. I wanted to go outside and jog in the morning, and I don't think I will step foot outside if there is snow on the ground...lol!

I hope that everyone manages to stay warm and dry :) I think tonight would be a great night for some hot cocoa!

Only one more week of vacation and then we will be open again. Its been a nice break and well deserved. I can't wait to break out all the new stuff we have planned for our clients in 2011. I hope everyone had a fabulous celebration to welcome in the New Year! This year we went to a family friendly event where there were plenty of kids for mine to hang out with and have fun! We came home around 3am and it was FREEZING!!!!!

This morning my husband was determined to take down all the Christmas stuff...including the lights. While he was out there, he kept hearing tap, tap, tap...tap tap tap... and couldn't find the source. Well, it didn't take long and he came and got me:

A woodpecker!!!! Oh my goodness isn't he cute? Not that I am thrilled he is pecking in my tree, but he is a welcomed sight on such a cold winter day!
I simply love nature, and so glad to be able to welcome in a new year!

One of the best things about homeschooling our children has been the fabulous families we have had the pleasure of being friends with. The kids have been in the same group for 3-4 years, and have grown very close.
Now that they are older, they have formed a book club and left behind the tea parties and frequent playdates they previously enjoyed. But this day they had a fun playdate, a cookie decorating party that everyone was able to enjoy even when the weather outside was less than appealing.
We drove through flooded streets and muddy roads to get here, and I'm so glad we did!

We had 5 teens as well, who spent the day hanging out in the drizzle of rain. They are pretty flexible when it comes to tagging along to their younger siblings activities.

New Years Day is almost here! I'm so excited to what 2011 has to bring. I'm so thankful for each and every one of my clients and I hope that in 2011 we cross paths again!

The Day After Christmas....

Did everyone have a great Christmas? I hope so!

Everything was wonderful this year for our family. The kids received lots of gifts, and I was so proud of how grateful they were for them. Lots of sharing going on between the kids...each of them received something different that there was no problem trading for a little bit so they could each try out new toys. My oldest got her wish - a new laptop...which means I can have mine back. My middle child received a camera, and so there is a lot of picture taking going on in this house :) My son got a DSIXL which just makes him sooooo happy!

My husband and I were given a microwave, which if you know us, you know why that was such a good gift to get! We have been without one for several months, and I have had no desire to buy one. But they are convenient, and it was nice to heat water in a few seconds, not several minutes this morning. I guess it can stay, lol!

Withe Christmas over now, I look forward to planning 2011. There are so many things to look forward to, new clients, new friends, new events to capture. I hope that everyone is enjoying this lovely weekend.

I seriously love this family! We met them this year during softball...I drafted the youngest daughter to my team, the TWINS. She did such an awesome job that I selected her for my all-star team. Dad eventually started playing softball on my husband's Thursday team until an injury sidelined him.

Christmas is almost here...can you believe it? I'm almost done shopping and of course comes the wrapping. I can't wait to see the kids' faces on Christmas Day, and to spend the entire day relaxing with the family. We stay home, my in laws visit us in the morning and the rest of the day is ours. No stress at all!

2010 is almost over! Its raining like crazy out there, I'm ready to bring out the kayaks! I had to cancel two sessions this week (BUMMER!!) that I don't think we will get rescheduled until next year. Luckily that is only 11 days away :)

Christmas is almost here... I have not finished shopping yet. To say that I even started would be a lie...I bought a few things and that was it. Its hard to get out when there are so many activities to get out of the way! Good thing that none of the kids asked for anything that are "hottest toy of the year". The grandparents took care of the big ticket items, so we are filling in with simple things that we know the kids like and will enjoy. I could probably do it all online....lol.

Did you know its almost December? There is no way for me to forget, my kids wont let me!
Yesterday I was at the grocery store and the City of Victorville people were out there collecting food for the homeless shelter. It makes it so easy to give! Usually we have to buy the canned food and take it somewhere... but yesterday I just bought some things and they took it on the way out.
So this holiday season, don't forget to give!

Today I am headed to Disneyland with my husband. My fabulous kids are spending the week with their grandparents right now, and tomorrow we will join them and celebrate Thanksgiving!

Its becoming more and more common for people to come in with their families and pets for a family portrait! This family brought two dogs, who were super cute and really good to work with. I'm glad I put my dog outside before they came, though - because it might not have gone so well~

I'm trying out new things with the families this year, offering more of a variety of poses as well.

Thanksgiving Day is this week! There are so many things to be thankful for this year~

Today I was reading the local paper, and in it there was an article regarding the low amount of donations this year. That is sad news.
But the good news is that so many people in our community are stepping up and trying to do what they can! In years past, we have done food and clothing drives with clients to help out the families in need. This year we are going to go a bit further and donate a percentage of sales to organizations that benefit the High Desert directly. So for the remainder of November, and the entire month of December we will be doing this! I am very excited!

The season is over....

I am so sad, yet so relieved at the same time. I had so much fun with my girls this fall. They learned so much and truly proved that size does not matter. The final double header of the season, and all week leading up to it the girls kept hearing that we were going to get killed on the field. The parents were a bit nervous as well, and I will admit - so was I. The worst, I figured, was that they could only score 40 runs in the game. Worst case scenario.... 40-0

But hey, my girls played their hearts out. Despite poor officiating (I DO mean poor and SHAME on that umpire!) the final score of the first game was 19-18. It came down to the last out. My runner was never tagged at home and was called out anyway.

The second game was a little scarier. The girls were bigger, faster, and looked to have more skill. Final score? 8-8

I couldn't have asked for a better season, better assistants, or better girls. and lets not forget - good kids come from great families. Everyone was so supportive and we pulled together just like a team should!

Fall softball!

So I've mentioned before that we are busy with Fall Softball. We are the Twins again, and it seemed like this season would never come together because of major setbacks and other people trying to take care of their own agenda instead of letting little girls play and learn some skills.
Due to the short season I had the same amount of things to teach but with less time, and in some cases it was a lot of work and little progress.
And for a long time I didn't take photos because the games were stressful enough and I had a million other things to be worrying about.
But the season is coming to a close, and my girls have done so well that I felt they needed some photos to remember their season by....

and yes, there are 3 photos of Brianna because it was her pitching debut and there were a lot of plays at home and catching is what she usually does. :)

This week I will spend some time writing something about each girl so that I can say something nice when they receive their trophies. In past seasons, I just took something off the top of my head, but this season I want to be better prepared :)

We had friends visit from Las Vegas, of course we had to update their portraits!!

I am so grateful, they were willing to pose for me when I was first starting out, and have been with me since the beginning! Plus they are homeschoolers, so of course they have a special place in my heart!

Yesterday was such a gorgeous day! And this weeks is supposed to be full of more of the same! I was busy working on orders yesterday and I knew I had to stop and take the opportunity to get some pictures of my younger daughter. I had been wanting o take pictures for a contest I want to enter her in, so now was the time!

That rose she was holding? Even that was perfect! No bugs, thorns, and the petals were perfectly spaced. My only nitpick is that the lighting was very flat. It was hard to get it in her eyes, and there is no shadow on her face to give it dimension. But I think she looks perfect anyway!

I'm sure you remember this little guy - the last time I posted about him, he was 3 weeks old and having his newborn portrait made. :)

Now he is 4 months old and getting to be such a big guy - and cute!!!

The weather has turned cold... BRRRRRR! But we can still get your family out for a portrait before winter hits! The leaves are slowly changing, so its not too late!

Oooooh I have really missed the babies! Not that I don't love the older ones because they are so simple to work with and I can chat with them during the session, but there is just something about a baby!

Miss G was one of the easiest babies to work with. And when she was hungry, she ate and then fell right asleep!

Last month I started a two week project with the Learning Collective. In homeschooling groups it is common for them to create co-ops to expose the children to different subjects and interests. And of course, the talented teachers are also parents with a genuine vested interest in the kids. :)
So it didn't take two weeks, I went down 1 day each week, lol! Spent a couple of hours at the location, packed up and went back home.
My oldest daughter got her first taste of order taking. She did a very good job, I am so proud!

What a great group!

Vacation is cool because you get to relax and have fun. What's not cool about vacation is a very well crafted and organized life that you have worked very hard to create goes down the tubes. Or can, anyway.
I've been playing catch up for 3 weeks now. And I am still not caught up. But its to the point now where everyday I don't face a new crisis because something came up and I had to rearrange my schedule to accommodate it because I didn't catch it before.

So yay me!

I want to share a few pictures of my vacation.... and of course the students at the Learning Collective... and we can't forget the Silverado High Class of 2000, can we?

And the famous Epcot ball. The sky was a beautiful blue with fluffy clouds every single day. I just could do without the heat. Its not awesome desert heat, its sticky yucky humid blah. lol.

Like I said, its been a busy week. Between softball games, practice, homeschooling, and regular chores, I am not shooting as much as I would like. But its about to change!

I did another headshot on Friday - same company (which I now have an official gig with... they send me people, I send them photos) and I like the way his came out.

Monday (tomorrow is Monday already!) we are heading down to photograph the students of the Learning Connection group. I heard they are a great bunch of people, I can't wait!!!

I am also very excited for my senior season to start. I can't wait for my first 2011 senior. We have caps and gowns in different colors for almost every local school, so give a call and get a portrait session that combines the traditional cap and gown portrait with a little pizzazz of a senior session!

Its been a busy week since we got back from vacation! I have decided we may take a couple more mini-vacations to stay refreshed throughout the year.

So as soon as I got back, Laurie came in to get her head shot. We had talked about it before I left and so the timing was just right.

Today is the first day of Fall!!! (I'm a day ahead because I thought it was yesterday!) And boy does it feel like it! Last night at my husband's softball game I underestimated the cold and froze the whole game. Not used to it since I spent every evening in Florida in a light Tee and shorts!
But its still supposed to warm up this weekend and be HOT! I want one more hurrah before summer goes away... :)

Back from vacation!

It's amazing how much work piles up in just two weeks! So this week I am slowly trying to answer emails and return phone calls.

We went on an amazing vacation to DisneyWorld in Florida! We had such a good time. I will put up some pictures this week.

Before I left, I had a session with one of my favorite dancers. She had two costumes this year, and I swear she grew a foot since the last time I saw her! I had to raise the backdrop higher than normal!

I have a few more sessions to post... and then I have some new ones coming up that are sure to be fun.
October is one of the best times to have outdoor portraits taken. The leaves start to change at certain parks, and the weather is cooler too. Call me to book your fall session and make sure you have those portraits done in time for Christmas!!

50th Wedding Anniversary!

Last month I shot a beautiful party for a local couple celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Due to some privacy concerns I won't reveal their name or show pictures of people, but I did want to share some of the decorations of the day...

It took place at the lovely Green Tree, and the staff their was pleasant to work with and very organized.

I hope to make it to my 50th Anniversary! Only....35 more years to go! Quite a feat!

She and I met first in a business manner... she hired me to photograph her baby girl. Then we got to talking and found that we had things in common, and like most of my clients, she became a good friend and we meet up when we can to chat and vent and all that fun stuff.

So she let me take her picture ( very reluctantly, lol) and I think she looks great :)

And NOOOOOO... I am not posting the ones that made me crack up laughing because that would be sooooo unprofessional. But trust me - she had fun!

Today's post features the work of a local make-up artist. Her name is Antonette and she did some make-up work for my daughter and her best friend. Then I took some pictures and the girls had a great time posing and showing off...

Time flies!
In the past 11 days, my husband had a birthday, we attended the CHN EXPO, played tons of softball and had some really good sessions!

This week is flying by, its already Wednesday!

So today I am featuring a session that I did that was really emotional... even more so when I when to process the pictures....

This is a family determined to spend some quality time together...life is short and you never know what the future brings. SO love, forgive, and cherish the time you have together with the ones you love.
