A new life!

So on Tuesday, I was able to meet this adorable little guy. He is sooo tiny and has a full head of blond hair. Mom looked fantastic for having just given birth.  Of course Dad was radiant and proud of his new son.

Tap, tap, tap....
Thats what I heard today when I took the trash out.
The bird is small, the tree is big...
But that doesn't faze him.
He is determined, focused, and eventually his hard work will pay off.
Good lesson for the day.

Family session!

This was the last session of 2013. They were so much fun to work with and I enjoyed having them in my studio.
All of their proofs are ready to be viewed... can't wait till Mom comes in tomorrow!

Welcome 2014!

No pictures for today :-(
I am working on a session from last Thursday, though.
My family and I welcomed 2014 in with several of our closest friends and their families. We had a little potluck, and everyone had a great time. I hope everyone had a safe night wherever they were, and that you all are as enthusiastic about the new year as much as I am!

My new pricing list is all finished, and I hope to have it back from the printer in a few days.

2013 is almost over!

My last blog post was from 2012. In 2013, I focused more on social media such as Twitter and Facebook. I am still on the fence about which one worked better. In 2014 I intend to use the blog more. I did find that some of my clients (although not many!) do not use Facebook, so they didn't get to see the sneak peeks that I love sharing.
Since I am still not shooting full-time, I will try to add other interesting things to the blog that I come across.

Mini-sessions in November/December were a success! Today is the last day to book one for January!

I will be doing a Valentines' Day themed mini session for the kids. I will be ordering a new backdrop and adding some different props to customize the sessions a little for each client.

The next time clients set foot in my studio in 2014, they will notice that the carpet has been replaced with tile. I love it! It was time for a change, and since I am so busy all the time, I felt it would be easier to keep clean. So far, so good!

Family Photos!

Last Tuesday I met up with a family at the park. They were fabulous to spend an hour with. We got a lot of great shots, and I am having a heck of a time narrowing down my pile. Almost finished and ready to show to them!

 

I can't wait to finish the rest of them!

This week for  the Thanksgiving holiday, my kids are leaving to Grandma's house. So I will have a few days of uninterrupted peace and quiet. The kids are excited for a parent free weekend, too!

Back to School and Saving Money

Today is the day where most of the kids in my area are headed back to school. Its August, I know - but it works I guess.
Yesterday I was clipping my coupons before my softball game and I started thinking about what I do with the coupons I'm not going to use. I used to clip them and send them to a lady who would take what she wanted then send them overseas. Then she became all psycho crazy on Facebook so I stopped sending them to her.

Fun with Bean!

So lately I haven't been shooting because I have been busy doing other things... things that have totally taken over when they really shouldn't have. So I asked my daughter to dress up a little, I put a backdrop up, and one light with a reflective board opposite of it. So all of these are one light pictures!

I love that pettiskirt - I bought three of them a few years ago when they were all the rage and even though tutus are the thing now, I still prefer the pettiskirts. Today I am working on a themed set - its should all be put together in a few days. I can't wait to see how it comes out, there are few items I really wanted but haven't been able to find, but I will make do with what I have and go from there! Summer rain

In the High Desert, we have these few days in summer where the heat makes you delirious and begging for snow and freezing cold temps (not, me, just other crazy people). Just when you think you can't take it anymore, the skies get cloudy, the air gets thick and then Mother Nature puts on a light and sound show. Claps of thunder, shots of bright lightning, and then as a finale....we get rain. One year it rained so hard so quickly that my father in law and I were barely able to make it to Baskin Robbins and back to pick up my son's cake for his birthday. The streets were flooded and cars were getting stuck. But after the rain, its so quiet and peaceful. Everyone seems content to stay inside and relax for a moment if they can.

My roses are especially happy to receive rain. I knew we were probably going to get some, so I tilled up the dirt around them so that the water would be able to go deep and get to the roots. Right now the temps are not bad, but the bad part about summer rain is the humidity. Give me my High Desert dry heat. I know there will be some soaked shirts tonight at softball. Oh, and happy Friday the 13th!!!!

I'm sorry!

I have neglected this blog for so long - I really got caught up on exclusively posting on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Nancarrow-Photography/275755954554 ) and so this blog really became 2nd. But I think I have a system down, so we shall see how it goes. Some projects that I have coming up: #1 I'm doing a wedding! The couple is sooo wonderful and I am really looking forward to it.

Seriously a gorgeous and fun couple. I can hardly wait for their wedding in September. It will be my final project before I go on vacation. #2 I'm going on vacation! The family and I are headed back to Walt Disney World in Florida! I am sure it will be a blast, and this year we are taking our inlaws with us. #3 FAIRY PORTRAITS are here! This week I am putting together the set, getting a few models to shoot, and offering fairy portraits for the rest of July and all through August. They are going to be beautiful, and only offered on selected days. WAY BETTER than the first fairy portraits I ever did! So look for my post tomorrow... its going to be another scorching hot day, they say. But I'm a cool person - it will be alright. :-)

2012 Senior Pics

I've been having a wonderful 2012! So busy that I have been spending more time updating the facebook photography page, instead of my blog. I will try to do both and catch up this week.

I am especially proud of this senior session - I think he looks great!





Tomorrow I am going to post pictures of an album before it goes home with its new family. I never have any in the studio, so now is the time.

January is turning out to be so wonderful! I'm meeting all kind of new people and having fun with my regular people. I'm also entering a contest on Facebook, so when the time comes, I hope you will vote for me!

2011 was such a great year for me, and I look forward to 2012!
My first order of business in 2012 was to start booking more sessions. So far, so good!
I got to meet with this young lady in the studio and she was such a great kid to work with! Very expressive!






So, I ended up taking about a month off from photography just to regroup and kind of lay down a plan for 2012. So it looks like more blogging, more facebook updates and every other month or so we will do a special. Please "Like" my Facebook page

December Cold!

Its been cold out here lately! Thankfully all of my sessions have been indoors! Its not even supposed to get above 55 degrees today!

I had a little model come in this week for her headshots... total cutie pie and lots of spirit!

Happy Thanksgiving

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I am so thankful for my husband, my children, my family, my friends and of course my wonderful clients. Enjoy the times with the people you love most and just forget all the rest!
I love the fall color in the mountains. Every year we go to my in-laws house since they moved (except that one year I worked and then I made the rule to never do that again!) and every year I want to stop and just take a picture of the road leading to their house.
THis year Tim and I made the trek alone because our kids had already been there since Tuesday. So I made him stop so I could get out and shoot. He is such a good man!

Today is Black Friday... I stayed home because there was nothing out there worth getting into a fight over, lol. Plus I have two sessions today that I would prefer to be awake for!

Another session finished! Moving right along!

We did have some drama with Ebay and USPS the past two days, so I haven't had a lot of time to work on things. But I finished processing another session today and I am well on my way to getting caught up. Just in time for my holiday sessions that start next week!
