Today I just wanted to say something before I post two new recent sessions...
On July 22nd 2009, Doris Davies passed away. For those of you who live in the High Desert, many of you will know who she is.
Doris Davis was a wonderful woman and philanthropist. She did so much for the city of Victorville and for the children of the High Desert. She was an energetic lady, whose tenacity for getting things done was unmatched.
When I met Ms Davies, I was a coach for one of the city's T-Ball teams. It was 2007 She shook my hand and told me that she appreciated me volunteering, and that I would love it, and want to do it over again.
Ms Davies always had people around her, that magnetic personality I could feel and experience as she shook my hand.
Little did she know, I had already caught the volunteer bug and I have since moved on fully to my local Little League where I served on the board in an interim position while coaching two teams.
The second time I met Ms Davies was in 2008. Our league was desperately in need of funds to pay for expenses, and she made a rather large donation. After the presentation of the check, and after the ceremony was over, it was my turn to seek her out and be one of the many to shake her hand and personally thank her for her generosity.
Doris Davies will be remembered for a long time, and by many people. If you have the ability to make it to her funeral, there will be a service at San Bernardino county fairgrounds at 6pm on Thursday.
How much do you want to bet its standing room only? ;)

Recent Maternity...
Yesterday I had a beautiful couple come in for a maternity session. nothing fancy - just some simple timeless images for her to remember her pregnancy.
I love maternity sessions - they show promise and hope for the future of a new life....

and love...they show lots of love that is waiting for the new arrival...

This is going to be one lucky child! I can't wait to meet her!

EXPO Reminder!
I hope everyone is having a great week!
I just want to put out a reminder that this year Nancarrow Photography will be at the CHN EXPO this year on July 31st and August 1st!
This is a great opportunity to get those "school" pictures done, as well as a nice family portrait in a relaxed setting.
Appointments are available for Friday or Saturday, and you can even pre-pay your school packages this year. We will also accept credit cards this year!
One more thing - every graduate that comes in to have their portrait taken will recieve a FREE 5x7. It's our way of saying CONGRATS!!!

'09 Grad!
Last week I had a quick session with a beautiful 09 graduate!
Seniors are always a lot of fun, usually not very shy and take direction well!
Congratulations on your graduation, Stephanie!

Poster unveiled...

I've been doing sports shots for the past 3 years...generally at an hourly rate with a CD, or digital downloads per file.
Anyway, I saw that there were photographers out there selling 16x20 posters of one shot. So I went through some of the pictures I had of my kids and made composites. The one above is of my daughter Brianna, and is one of the samples that I am having printed to present to clients.
I am hoping it goes over pretty well with my client base.

A month is too long....
To not be bloggin'!
Things have calmed down quite a bit. I had some grads come through (see below), proms, baseball/softball, and I met with several potential wedding clients. In one week I have booked FOUR weddings for the winter! WOW!
I do have some softball left - its ALL-STAR time, and I am excited about the girls playing in the tournament. I stepped down as manager and I put my husband Tim in my spot. So now I will get to stand in the bleachers, cheer, and....you guessed it - TAKE PICTURES!!!!
I also have something special that I am working on for sports. I saw an idea at one of the fields and decided to put my own special spin on it. I hope to have it ready to show later on in the week.
But for now,
Here is my most recent grad client...

Isn't he handsome? He is very well mannered and while we were shooting he pulled out that diploma for a pose and I simply had this feeling of pride. Another young person who had finished one section in his journey of life and is on to the next stage.
Congrats on your graduation, Clayton!
