Another Haircut!

My son had been walking around looking like a porcupine for some time.
Any request to get his hair cut would go like this....

Me: Can I cut your hair?
Him: No.
Me: Aren't you hot?
Him: No.
Me: Can I cut your hair tomorrow?
Him: I don't want my hair cut.

And most parents are just like "Well, if my kid needs his hair cut then I just take him whether he likes it or not."

Not this kid.
I have vivid horrible memories of him sitting in the barber chair screaming bloody murder while the poor girl was trying to get close to him with the scissors. She didn't even finish and I tipped her $20 and carried a kid with half-cut hair out of the salon.
One time I was buzzing his head and he didn't want me to, so he kept jerking around and I nicked him with the clippers. He reminds me of the time that I cut off his ear. "remember that time you cut my ear, Mommy?" and he looks at me with those big brown eyes and I feel guilty...

Well, with a little persistence and some HOT weather, I managed to convince him to let me use the clippers on him. I promised him some spiky hair too:

The photo taking was almost as difficult as convincing him to get the hair cut! I said show me some teeth, and that is what I got. He is actually saying "Did you get it yet?" through his teeth. Yikes!
And yes - he will be 8 years old in 5 weeks and still has every single one of his baby teeth. His friends are losing them left and right. The tooth fairy better have something good!

This weekend has been fantastic! Softball started up today and even though it is apparent that I am a little rusty, I am looking forward to 5 days of softball every week to spend with my family...

Something fun for the whole family is the CHN Expo! It takes place in Ontario, Ca and is 3 days of fun for parents, kids, and grandparents! My kids are looking forward to it for sure!
Nancarrow Photography will be there taking student portraits, and doing family sessions. We are booking appointments on Friday and Saturday, and then photographing the graduation on Sunday.

The Baby Contest is still accepting entries! As of right now, it looks like an all-BOY affair! C'mon, let's get those baby girls all signed up!!!

Its Saturday...

Today was one of those days where it was really too hot to go do anything. So after my trip to the grocery store, my family stayed inside and just relaxed.

But once the temps outside cool down, I went outside. My daughter had planted sunflower seeds randomly in the back yard. So when these plants started sprouting, my husband and I were confused as to what they were.

But now its obvious... so I can't wait for the flowers to open:

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Apparently there were a few links for the baby contest and CHN portraits that weren't working... Those are fixed and back up working.
The entry deadline for the baby contest is July 25th.... so don't procrastinate!

Summer wedding!

I love attending weddings...

And I tend to be pretty selective on the ones I will photograph.... The couple and I really have to click and I have to be excited about the wedding. This was one of those weddings!

The bride and groom were a fun couple with a great group of friends and family...

A bride should always have a back up plan for shoes...

Wait! You aren't supposed to kiss the groom!

There was a bounce house for the kids and the adults got in there! Someone save the bride!

Gorgeous blue sky to make it a perfect day...

Congratulations to you two!

The Jones Family...

Ever heard of "keeping up with the Joneses?"

Well with 4 little ones running around, it sure gives new meaning to that saying!
We headed outside for a family shoot- Dad was on military leave for a little bit, so it was a great opportunity to update the family portrait!

Thank you Angela, it was great to meet the rest of the family!

New Haircut...

After a looooong couple of years, my daughter finally got her haircut today.

The rule is that it must be long enough during softball season to easily put in a ponytail or braid. She missed the cutoff after last season and another year of growth went into it. Things ended up pretty well, because she played catcher and it was much easier to control her hair in a braid.

A few things have happened lately, so the cutting of her hair means so much more than just being cool for the summer.

It is a very versatile type of cut... she can leave it unstyled like it is in the pictures for a casual look, or curl it for something more dressy. She had it in a pony tail earlier, and I had to look twice, she looks like a young adult!

I highly recommend the woman who did her hair, she works out of her home. She did a fabulous job. If you want her contact info, let me know.

Tomorrow is the 4th of July. We are celebrating with our family! Its kind of a bummer that we can't have fireworks, but over the years I have gotten used to watching from our windows. I hope everyone has a FABULOUS 4th of July!
